What is Thermal Yield?

Thermal Yield is the proportion of total facility power that reaches silicon as useful compute, after cooling, conversion and distribution losses. It captures three loss mechanisms usually accounted separately: the power consumed by cooling, the power lost in conversion and distribution, and the compute lost to thermal throttling.

Thermal Yield is the engineering quantity behind the commercial metric. It captures three loss mechanisms that are usually accounted separately: the power consumed by cooling, the power lost in conversion and distribution, and the compute lost to thermal throttling.
