What is Edge AI?

What does Coral Edge need from the site?

Electrical supply, floor loading capacity, physical access for installation, and network connectivity appropriate to the workload. It does not need a raised floor, computer room air conditioning, or a dedicated data hall. Site requirements are confirmed during an architecture review before any commitment.

Can Coral Edge run unstaffed?

Coral Edge is designed for sites without on-site technical staff, with remote monitoring and managed operations available through Coral Compute. Passive thermal transport for fully pumpless operation is an active research direction and is not a current product claim.

How loud is a Coral Edge deployment?

Removing fans from the thermal path substantially reduces acoustic output compared with air-cooled equipment of equivalent density. For an indoor pod with no server fans, an equipment class of this type is typically in the range of 45 to 55 dB(A) at one metre, with the outdoor cooling unit typically 60 to 70 dB(A) at one metre at full fan speed and lower at part speed. These are class-typical figures rather than CoralDC measurements. Measured octave-band data for a specific configuration is provided during the architecture review.

Where Coral Edge is the right answer

Coral Edge is self-contained, liquid-cooled AI infrastructure for locations that cannot host a conventional data centre. It is designed to run in sealed, dust-laden, humid, vibrating, acoustically sensitive or unstaffed environments where air cooling is impractical and where sending data elsewhere is not an option.

Mine sites and processing plants. Ports and logistics terminals. Hospitals and diagnostic facilities without a data hall. Telecommunications huts and substations. Manufacturing floors. Remote research stations. Forward deployments.

The common factor is not size. It is that the site imposes a physical or jurisdictional constraint that a conventional deployment cannot satisfy.

Why liquid cooling matters more at the edge, not less

At the edge there is no computer room air handling to fall back on, frequently no dedicated room at all, and often no on-site technician. Sealing the thermal path removes the air handling requirement, removes dust and humidity ingress as failure modes, and removes fan noise from environments where acoustics are a constraint.

This is also where immersion architecture is genuinely superior rather than merely different, and CoralDC says so specifically because the same claim is not true everywhere.
